Blue and White Christmas Cookies

I have been busy decorating Christmas Cookies for family and friends. I love to do it and have found a wonderful recipe. The only person who won't eat them is my hubby. He doesn't like sweets. Lucky for me, I didn't marry him for his taste buds. I only had kids, so I could bake!!!! Just kidding.

I love being the mom with treats.

The picture is a little blurry, but I made these for fun yesterday. I love to make cut-outs and was getting a little bored with my usual cut-out. These would be a nice little gift for a teacher.

Christmas Cookies

Christmas is coming fast. I tried out my new cutters today. Love them!! Not to mention the cookies taste so good. I used a traditional sugar cookie recipe with royal icing. I'll have to make some more.

Daisy Cookie Bouquet

My new project has been learning to make cookie bouquets. They are so adorable, not to mention yummy. This is only my second bouquet. Another unique gift idea for someone who is hard to buy for, or when you just want to say thanks!

Halloween Cookies

I think I am starting to get the hang of decorating cut-out cookies. These are my latest attempts. O.k., but I ran out of time and had to finish fast so we could visit friends. I also decided to bring them to their house. For some reason the kids can't stop eating these ones. Lately they don't even bother eating them, but these disappeared pretty fast.

Happy Meal Treats

I made these for my son's birthday party at school. I have heard of so many moms making them for treats, but have never seen one myself. I used a sandwich cake cookie for the bun http://simplycooking-for5.blogspot.com/2007/03/sandwich-cookies.html , chocolate icing from a can for the burger, marshmallow fondant for the ketchup, mustard and lettuce. The french fries are shoestring potato chips. And, a juice box was good enough for a drink because it didn't need to be refrigerated. I also wrapped the burger in yellow tissue paper. If I would have had more time, I would have written hamburger on the tissue paper, but I don't think the kids cared. It was a great success! My son loves the extra attention from the teachers when they see my creations.

We're moving!

I have not been baking lately. Next week I will probably make treats for my son's baseball team, but other than that I have been posting pictures of other's creations. Why? We are moving in a few weeks and I have not been home enough to make treats. I also am trying to not make a mess and pack up the kitchen. I have a few posts to get my creations back on here, but I plan to take some time off from baking. In 4 weeks we are having a birthday party for my son, so I should have plenty to post from that.

Decorated Cookies - Green Flip Flops

I so want to make these cookies this summer. Wilton makes the cutter. I just have to stop at Michaels and pick it up.

I just love this cookie cutter. So cute, and you don't have to be a great decorator to make these look great. These would be great for your next ice cream social.

Nachos , my sons favorite!

Nachos , my favorite
Originally uploaded by esquire1952.
When my son turned 5, he decided he could cook. I was in the living room and heard the microwave running. By the time I had reached the kitchen, my son was trying to get a bowl of his special nachos out of the microwave, but of course it was hot.

Instead of yelling at him, we discussed how to properly make them. Now it is his dish of choice for a quick snack. They consist of chips and a slice of cheese. He is so proud of himself. He loves to serve them to his brother and sister. Everyone has to sit in front of the T.V. with their own batch.

The Best Ice Cream Ever!!!

There are a lot of great ice creams out there, but I think I have found the brand that tops my list. Ever heard of Emack and Bolio ice cream? http://www.emackandbolios.com/icecream2.htm This has to be the smoothest, creamiest, and richest tasting ice cream I have had. The only problem is there are very few shops in the country.

I ran across this by accident. I took my kids to a museum and they were giving out certificates for free scoops of ice cream to everyone. So, I took the kids over. We had 3 different flavors and tried each others. I loved it so much that I went back to buy my FIL some. The Vanilla Bean is just like many vanilla bean ice creams, but it is so much creamier. The Chocolate Addiction is so rich in flavor, you know they use high quality chocolate. The Butter Pecan is wonderful and what I had was sugar free.

If you are a serious ice cream lover, try them out. You won't be disappointed. It is out of my way, but I try to stop there a couple times a year.

Cocoa Krispie Brownie Treats

Talk about comfort food. Who doesn't love Brownies, Marshmallows, and Rice Krispies Treats.

My Easter Bunny Cookies

These adorable bunnies hopped away from me so fast, I never saw them again.

Decorated Cut-out Cookies in Shape of a Duck

I just love to make cut-out cookies for my kids. The only problem is I can't draw. This was a super easy design that even I could make.

Smores

Everyone loves to make Smores at a campfire. Marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers are so easy to make. Not really! If you are like everyone I have watched make Smores, you have 2 or 3 people come to you at the same time with Marshmallows that are falling off the stick and you haven't gotten the chocolate open for all three. Not to mention you don't have anywhere to put them, since it is a campfire. By the time they leave, you have a mess of wrappers that you have to pick up if you can find them in the dark. Someone may be upset because their hands are now all sticky because they had to catch their marshmallow before it fell on the ground. Such a great treat can be no fun for mom!

I was at a party one time and watched the host hand out Fudge Striped Cookies and a bag of Marshmallows. Why hadn't I thought of that. Why haven't we all thought of that. They are like a graham cracker and already have chocolate. No extra wrappers. You won't have too much chocolate. You won't have too little chocolate. Of course, you can go ahead and continue on your path to all that work, but why would you.

And, this is such a conversation started at a bonfire. Everyone wants one because it's new. And, when everyone has had enough Smores, someone will finish off the cookies and you have less clean-up.
